Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.

Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.

Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Information about the position

We are building a payments organization that moves billions of euros across our markets, and that helps us scale anywhere globally through an ecosystem of payment providers, compliance, and regulation controls, ensuring the right payment experience along the way. Transaction Monitoring is the core control at the heart of Vinted Pay's AML program: it screens transfers instantly and retrospectively for money-laundering risk, sanctions exposure and abuse patterns, maintaining a high-integrity platform for our members. This is core to ensuring the trust and reliability of our global payments ecosystem, and to building trust with service providers and regulators.

In this job you will be working within a Product engineering team, shaping your team's roadmap for both instant transfer monitoring - a latency-sensitive control that our ledger blocks on - and retrospective monitoring across our markets, and making the right tradeoffs between risk coverage, false positive/negative rates, and system performance. You will ensure the team builds cutting-edge solutions at scale that power a trustworthy payments experience for millions of customers across Europe and beyond. You will collaboratively work with a talented group of professionals - including Compliance, Legal, and other Payments product teams - embrace creativity, and make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, regulated environment.

We're seeking someone with a proven track record for delivering impact through technical product solutions. You should be ready to take on challenges and willing to grow in your role.

In this position, you’ll

  • Set product strategy and roadmap for Transaction Monitoring, while taking a collaborative approach with your cross-functional team to execute
  • Partner closely with Compliance and Legal to translate AML/CFT regulatory requirements into concrete monitoring rules and review workflows
  • Work with engineering to prioritize new detection rules and the underlying data signals (e.g. linked-account/crossmatch detection, IP and device risk, high-risk jurisdictions, counterfeit and bulk-listing patterns, sanctions-circumvention typologies), sourcing data in collaboration with other Payments and Marketplace teams
  • Be accountable for the end-to-end success of Transaction Monitoring through the OKR framework, including detection coverage, false positive/negative rates, review-queue throughput, and latency
  • Work together with multiple stakeholders - other product teams (Accounts, Ledger, Fraud, Data/Feature Store), other functions (Legal, Compliance, Security, and etc.), and third parties (screening vendors)
  • Help Vinted grow by contributing to building a reliable and trustworthy payments ecosystem that brings value to our members
  • Tackle ambitious product problems, conducting rigorous product discovery and scoping the solution with meaningful requirements and clear trade-off analysis

About you

  • Proven experience in product management, building technical products, ideally with exposure to fraud, AML, risk, or trust & safety domains
  • Understand and appreciate the engineering and technical aspects of the product development lifecycle, and know how to balance product development and tech debt in latency-sensitive, event-driven systems
  • Experience delivering through a full product lifecycle: integrating feedback from Compliance and Risk teams into product requirements, driving prioritization, and pre/post-launch execution
  • Able to make insightful, data-driven decisions - such as calibrating rule thresholds against false positive/negative trade-offs - and translate these into valuable product improvements
  • Good knowledge of how to incorporate data, research, and regulatory input to create product strategies and roadmaps
  • Skilled in operating effectively in varying degrees of abstraction, translating regulatory and compliance requirements into actionable, engineering-ready iterations
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are confident juggling changing priorities and operating with limited resources
  • You are passionate about driving technical innovation to make second-hand first-choice, while keeping Vinted Pay's ecosystem trustworthy for members, regulators and partners
  • Domain knowledge about Payments is preferred, AML or Transaction Monitoring/Fraud area knowledge is a strong plus
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is a plus
  • A fast learner and critical thinker with an open attitude
