Information about the position 

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to join and lead the Data Platform team in Data Infrastructure. As an Engineering Manager, you will have to grow, inspire, and lead your team to achieve set goals in the most efficient and reliable manner possible. Additionally, you will keep your team's vision and strategies up to date and effectively scale the vision, team, and operations as needed.

In this position, you’ll 

Be accountable for:

  • Results of the team (delivery management and quality of engineering).
  • Efficient ways of working in the team (working on the right things in the right ways).
  • People in the team (ensuring that we have great people working in true harmony).

In practice, it means:

  • Collaborating with the Staff Engineer and Data Infrastructure leaders to create a clear vision for the data platform, while understanding user needs and developing aligned strategies.
  • Defining initiatives and a roadmap focusing on strategic goals and ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Actively working on improving the platform, enhancing its reliability, usability, and performance.
  • Developing Service Level Objectives and a support model matching the platform's increasing criticality, ensuring reliability and quick resolution of issues.
  • Effectively communicating progress and managing stakeholder expectations with transparent updates.
  • Recognizing impediments to team efficiency and proposing and implementing solutions to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and delivery speed.
  • Building and maintaining a team culture of trust, accountability, and results, while supporting team growth through performance and compensation reviews.
  • Ensuring sufficient skills and capabilities in the team to support Vinted's growth.

About you 

  • You are self-driven, like to get things done, and done well.
  • Have proven experience leading infrastructure/platform teams in an Agile environment, with a track record of successful results.
  • Have a basic understanding of data platforms and tooling (Terraform, Kafka, BigQuery, dbt or a similar tech stack), data stream/batch processing, observability, and data governance concepts.
  • Know how to effectively manage stakeholders, scope, priorities, and deliverables.
  • You are a collaborative visionary capable of setting a clear direction and delivering motivating, incremental steps.
  • Enhance team efficiency and build high-performing, self-organized teams while supporting people in overcoming challenges.
  • Have experience in setting growth goals and facilitating personal development in your team.
  • Possess the courage to address uncomfortable situations, manage conflicts, and make difficult decisions.
  • Have solid proficiency in communicating with both technical and management levels in English.
