Information about the position
As our new Decision Scientist, you will join the Seller Intelligence team, which is responsible for domain-level or broader analytical projects to help us understand our sellers' needs and ensure domain-wide data availability. This distributed team spans Vilnius and Berlin and consists of Decision Scientists and Analytics Engineers who collaborate closely with cross-functional product teams within the Seller domain.

Next to the Intelligence team, you will be part of the cross-domain Data Science & Analytics (DSA) guild where you will interact and learn from all data people in Vinted. Within DSA, we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similar business impact in different ways, and therefore, our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department:
- Decision Scientists are responsible for generating actionable insights and identifying and scoping opportunities. They maintain and contribute to automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision-making.
- Data Scientists are responsible for the identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and designing, developing and maintaining production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.
- Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.
In this position, you’ll
- Collaborate with your team and direct stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities and answer key business questions
- Ensure these questions are answered in an optimal fashion (e.g. in the form of an ad-hoc deep-dive, experiment, dashboard, or automatically recurring analysis)
- Work on deepening understanding of our seller base and their needs
- Set up and own the key performance indicators for the domain, including selection, forecasting, and proactively flagging issues
- Enable your team and direct stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via dashboarding tools (Looker)
- Inspire the usage of data & analytics within the domain to make data-driven decisions
About you
- BSc or MSc in a related field (statistics, mathematics, econometrics, economics or similar) or equivalent working experience
- Demonstrated working experience as a Decision Scientist, Data Analyst, or other role with a strong data component (typically 2+ years of working experience or similar activities resulting in a similar level of proficiency)
- Proficient in SQL, a statistical programming language (eg. Python, R, etc.), as well as BI tools (eg. Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
- Statistical proficiency (eg. experience in A/B testing, regression analysis, etc.)
- Ability to combine data insights with strategic direction and develop actionable recommendations
- A good communicator who can present complex topics clearly and persuasively to different audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and eager to work with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company
- Excellent written and spoken English
