Senior Backend Engineer, Member Lifecycle

We are expanding our Technology team within the Member Lifecycle domain and are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer. Our mission is to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for Vinted members throughout their journey on our platform.

Composed exclusively of senior engineers, our Technology team operates in a lean, self-managed manner, enabling rapid decision-making and efficient execution. By joining this specialised team, you will be surrounded by expert peers who value collaboration and innovation.

We are seeking someone who excels at writing elegant, efficient code and thrives in a highly technical environment. Your main responsibility will be to prepare our products for future challenges by modularising and scaling our backend services to meet the demands of our global user base, thereby contributing to Vinted's vision of making second-hand the first choice worldwide.

• Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work.
• Work in a highly experienced team and shape the services which affect millions of users.
• Collaborate with other engineers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews.
• Effectively partner across teams to prioritise and deliver results.
• Break down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components and services.
• Craft the code which can handle millions of requests per minute.
• See your code affect 80+ million users almost instantly. Our main branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge.
• Work with one of the world's biggest Ruby on Rails codebases, MySQL, Memcached, Elasticsearch, and many more technologies, including new services in Go. We don't expect you to be familiar with any of them beforehand.
• Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog.

• Experience and knowledge of software architecture design.
• You will have experience building services and splitting up a monolithic application.

Individual Learning Budget

Vinted will set aside a yearly sum equal to 10-13.2% of your annual salary to be invested in your continuous professional development. You’ll be able to take the initiative to use it for covering relevant learning activities that benefit your role.

Hybrid Work We’ve adopted a hybrid workplace model where 2 days in the office are recommended but not enforced. It’s up to you and your team to decide on the exact days you’ll spend working together in person.

The salary range for this position is €4,975 - €6,725 gross per month.
