Information about the position
We’re looking for a Data Engineer to help evolve and scale the data entry points and orchestration patterns at Vinted. As part of the Data Platform Foundations team, you’ll build and operate the ingestion layer that brings data from our production systems into our analytical platforms. Your work will ensure that events and change data from core services are reliably captured, processed, and made available for analytics and decision making across the company.
Data Platform Foundations team owns the core infrastructure that powers data ingestion, scheduling and storage. We operate at large scale (thousands of jobs, petabytes of data) and focus on reliability, scalability and cost efficiency. You’ll work closely with product engineers, analytics teams and platform specialists to ensure data flows are efficient across systems including GCP and HDFS.
In this position, you’ll
- Build and maintain high-performance ingestion pipelines on Apache Iceberg (CDC, event data, data contracts) using Scala and Python
- Design, develop and optimize raw data ingestion and maintenance jobs
- Manage the interface between our production services and our data warehouse (BigQuery)
- Automate the scaling of data pipelines and ensure high data integrity through schema management
- Work closely with users to deploy and scale data-centric applications and workflows
- You will participate in on-call rotations to ensure our product performs well
About you
- Proven experience building and operating data pipelines
- Strong programming skills in Scala, Python, or Java
- Experience designing Airflow workflows and developing Spark jobs
- Hands-on experience working with containerised and distributed environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of SQL and cloud data warehouses (preferably BigQuery)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Nice to have: knowledge in dbt, Schema Registry, Kafka

The salary range for this position is € 3,558 - € 6,517 gross per month.
