We’re looking for a Director of Data Science & Analytics to lead DSA for the Buyer domain.

The Buyer domain sits at the heart of the marketplace experience, shaping how millions of members discover relevant items and make confident purchase decisions. Vinted operates at scale as a two-sided C2C marketplace, where supply is constantly changing and every item is unique. The Buyer scope spans search, navigation, recommendations, ranking and personalisation – some of the most important, visible, and technically demanding problem spaces at Vinted to match each member with the items most relevant to them.

We’re also an experimentation-driven organisation. Product development at Vinted is grounded in testing, measurement, and evidence, and DSA plays a central role in helping teams make better decisions with confidence. In Buyer, that means combining strong experimentation practice with product insight, analytical thinking, and high-impact ML to continuously improve the member experience.

The Buyer DSA organisation numbers 30 people in total and is embedded directly into cross-functional product teams. In this role, you’ll directly lead experienced managers and senior experts and will set direction, strengthen capabilities, and form the domain leadership team with Product, Engineering, and Design leaders. You will shape the future of the buyer experience at Vinted together. You will report to the Senior Director of Data Science & Analytics.

• Set the direction for Buyer DSA and ensure the organisation is focused on the opportunities with the greatest potential impact
• Lead and develop a senior group of managers and individual contributors, shaping a strong organisation with clear priorities and accountability
• Lead DSA teams consisting of Decision Scientists (responsible to drive data-driven decision making), Data Scientists (responsible for production-grade ML opportunities), and Analytics Engineers (responsible for data curation)
• Be part of the Buyer domain leadership with Product, Engineering, and Design leaders to influence strategy, improve decision-making and align execution around measurable outcomes
• Guide the application of ML and analytics across discovery, retrieval, ranking, recommendations, and personalisation
• Strengthen the domain’s approach to experimentation, measurement, and causal reasoning
• Contribute to the development of DSA at Vinted through stronger standards, leadership and cross-domain alignment

We’re looking for a leader who combines analytical thinking, product sense, technical depth, and organisational leadership. You’ll likely be successful in this role if you:

• Have led senior Data Science, Analytics, Applied Science, or Machine Learning teams in product-led organisations
• Have experience leading managers and senior experts, and know how to scale impact through organisational design, coaching, and clear direction
• Bring strong experience with production ML systems, ideally in areas like recommendations, ranking, search, personalisation, or optimisation
• Have deep expertise in experimentation, product analytics, and decision-making under uncertainty
• Can connect product strategy, technical possibilities, and business outcomes in a clear and practical way
• Are highly effective in cross-functional environments and can influence senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical disciplines
