As a Staff Engineer for DC & Traffic Routing, you will be responsible for setting and guiding the technical strategy of Vinted's physical infrastructure and global traffic management.

The Foundations domain is the cornerstone of Vinted’s infrastructure, providing the essential resources that enable our engineering teams to scale and deliver value to millions of users globally. In this role, you will report to the Director of Engineering for Foundations and work closely with the engineering managers and teams dedicated to Data Centers and Traffic Routing. You will drive the architecture for our rapidly growing fleet of physical servers (currently around 10,000 servers) and lead the evolution of our edge architecture, CDNs, load balancing, and internal service mesh (Istio). You will ensure that every request to Vinted is routed efficiently, securely, and reliably from the user’s device all the way down to the bare-metal compute nodes.

• Own the long-term technical vision and architectural roadmap for Vinted's Data Center footprint and global traffic routing layer.
• Set the standards for hardware provisioning, bare-metal lifecycle management, and scalable network architectures within our data centers.
• Architect and scale our edge and traffic routing solutions, optimizing our use of CDNs (Fastly, Cloudflare), global load balancing, BGP, Anycast, and internal service mesh technologies.
• Lead improvements in bare-metal performance, hardware efficiency, and network reliability, acting as a force multiplier for the DC and Traffic Routing engineering teams.
• Collaborate deeply with domain teams, other Staff Engineers, and the Compute/Cloud teams to unblock the delivery of massive-scale technical initiatives and eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks.
• Solve hard networking and distributed systems problems, including mitigating large-scale DDoS attacks, optimizing global latency, and designing fault-tolerant physical infrastructure.
• Represent the Foundations technical area across the company, providing architectural guidance and ensuring our physical and network foundation can support Vinted's continuous global expansion.

• Extensive prior experience as an architect, principal, or staff engineer, having delivered cross-team technical infrastructure initiatives in environments of immense scale.
• Hands-on understanding of scaling physical data centers, bare-metal provisioning, Linux networking, and hardware lifecycles.
• Strong expertise in massive-scale traffic management, including Edge architecture, CDNs, load balancing (L4/L7), and routing protocols (e.g., BGP).
• Practical experience managing and scaling service mesh architectures (like Istio) in complex, multi-cluster environments.
• Demonstrable ability to design highly available, fault-tolerant network topologies that survive hardware, zone, and regional failures.
• Ability to delegate refinement and implementation of technical initiatives to engineers in your organization while remaining close enough to the code and architecture to provide meaningful guidance.
• Sharp communication skills and an ability to discuss highly complex, low-level technical topics with both engineers and leadership, building alignment and consensus across departments.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
