Brief info about Vinted
Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:
Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.
Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.
Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.
Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people. Our backers include Accel, EQT Growth, Insight Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sprints, and TPG.
Information about the position
As our new Staff Engineer for AI in Engineering Experience, you will be a key technical leader shaping how hundreds of Vinted employees work with AI in engineering, design, and product. You will own the technical strategy for our assisted and agentic AI infrastructure: tools, platforms, and golden paths that turn AI into a force multiplier across the software development lifecycle.
You will report to the Director of Engineering of the Engineering Experience domain and collaborate closely with Staff Engineers across Platform and other Business Units.
Think you’re up to the challenge? Read on.
In this position, you’ll
- Own the technical vision and strategy for Vinted’s AI engineering ecosystem: assisted coding (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex), agentic coding, agentic PR reviews, and MCP infrastructure that connects AI tooling to Vinted’s systems.
- Drive the expansion of AI-enabled engineering workflows so engineers can lean on AI for debugging with logs, traces, configs, and system context.
- Lead the application of AI assistance beyond coding, including incident investigation and resolution, on-call runbook guidance and automated handovers, and easier navigation of services, ownership, and system relationships.
- Define what AI-ready means at Vinted for repositories, services, and workflows, and drive adoption through shared skills, scorecards, and golden paths that product teams can follow with minimal friction.
- Guide the technical roadmap of our AI tooling team, ensuring deliverables compound into a coherent platform.
- Lead high-stakes experiments on emerging AI capabilities (automated refactoring, test generation, agentic PR reviews) and turn them into company-wide standards.
- Evaluate external tooling vs. in-house solutions for AI-enabled engineering capabilities, guide build-versus-buy decisions, and navigate the fast-moving pricing and contract landscape with technical judgment.
- Define and operationalize clear success metrics for AI-enabled engineering, including adoption, quality, and impact on developer productivity.
- Represent Vinted’s AI engineering direction within the Staff/Principal Engineer layer.
About you
- Deeply enthusiastic about the evolving AI landscape, keeping a pulse on industry breakthroughs and understanding how to translate them into engineering value.
- Prior experience as a staff engineer or architect, having delivered cross-team platform initiatives in organizations of scale.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with modern AI coding and agentic tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, or comparable), and a clear point of view on where they fit in an engineer’s workflow.
- Strong understanding of LLM application architecture: agent design, tool use, MCP, retrieval and knowledge indexing, evaluation, and the operational realities of running agents in production.
- Comfort with ambiguity and fast pivots: the AI landscape shifts on a monthly basis.
- A pragmatist’s instinct for what’s real vs. hype: able to separate demos from durable capability, run structured experiments, and kill things that don’t work.
- Demonstrable expertise in designing technical strategies and driving their adoption across hundreds of engineers through code, golden paths, enablement, and technical writing.
- Ability to delegate refinement and implementation to engineers in your organization while holding the bar on architecture and direction.
- Sharp communication skills and an ability to discuss complex topics in detail, while building relationships, alignment, and consensus across functions and departments.
