Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.

Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.

Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Information about the position

We're hiring a Lead Backend Engineer to join the Order Fulfillment (internally known as Nasa) team at Vinted. Our mission is to ensure every transaction on our marketplace - from logistics integrations to tracking and delivery - is smooth, reliable, and scalable.

In this role, you will be the technical anchor for our fulfillment initiatives. You won’t just be building features; you will be shaping the logic that guides our 100+ million members through the most critical part of their journey. Partnering closely with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager, you will influence the technical roadmap to ensure that as we deliver new capabilities, we are also evolving our services to be more resilient and maintainable.

You will lead the design of complex product capabilities, navigate architectural trade-offs in a high-traffic environment, and multiply the team's impact by mentoring other engineers and raising the bar for engineering excellence. This is a role for a technical leader who enjoys solving ambitious, product-driven problems through sound engineering judgment and cross-functional collaboration.

Curious who you’ll be speaking with?
You’ll meet the people behind this role early in the process: Mingailė Avulytė, who leads the Order Fulfillment engineering team and will be your direct manager. Birutė Kerzė, who will guide you through the hiring process.

In this position, you’ll

  • Lead Technical Design: Own the architectural evolution of our Order Fulfillment services. You will lead the design and implementation of complex, high-impact product features, ensuring they are built for global scale and long-term maintainability.
  • Multiply Team Impact: Act as a force multiplier for the team. You will identify and remove technical bottlenecks, unblock your peers, and provide the deep technical mentorship needed to grow senior engineers within the Nasa team.
  • Drive Technical Roadmap: Partner closely with the Product Manager and Engineering Manager to shape the team’s roadmap. You will provide well-considered technical perspectives and effort estimates that balance ambitious product goals with architectural health.
  • Own Engineering Excellence: Raise the bar for code quality, testing, and observability. You will drive the definition of SLIs/SLOs for fulfillment services and ensure the team makes pragmatic trade-offs between perfection and technical debt.
  • Scale Our Tech Stack: Develop and operate distributed systems using a modern backend stack including Golang, Vitess, Redis, Kafka, and Temporal.

About you

  • Experienced Technical Leader: You have a proven track record of leading technical initiatives in high-traffic production environments. You are comfortable being the "architect in the room" when defining the future of product-driven services.
  • Systems & Architectural Thinker: You have a holistic view of distributed systems. You understand how backend decisions impact mobile and web clients, and you excel at designing APIs that are simple to use but powerful enough to scale.
  • Pragmatic & Product-Minded: You care deeply about the "why" behind the code. You approach technical challenges with a practical mindset, focusing on solving the right business problems while avoiding unnecessary over-engineering.
  • Expert in Backend Technologies: You have solid backend engineering skills. While we work primarily with Go and Ruby, deep expertise in one of these or similar technologies is highly preferred.
  • Clear Communicator: You can translate complex technical trade-offs into clear terms for non-technical stakeholders (Product, Design, Legal), ensuring alignment on the technical direction and risk profile of our initiatives.
  • Passionate Mentor: You take pride in the growth of your colleagues. You are a trusted mentor who provides constructive, candid feedback and actively contributes to the betterment of Vinted’s engineering culture.
