Engineering Manager, Developer Environments
Brief info about Vinted
Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:
Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.
Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.
Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.
Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.
Information about the position
As Engineering Manager in Vinted's Platform organisation, you will be responsible for leading the Developer Environments team. The team owns the environments where engineers, and increasingly AI agents, build and test code before it reaches production. Your mission is to make a remote development environment the default and fastest way to work at Vinted, whether the user is a person or an agent.
The Developer Environments team owns Vinted's on-demand development environments: a CLI that provisions a remote machine and brings up our microservices on it, so an engineer or an agent can work as if everything ran locally. The team also owns an internal AI-first hosting platform.
The team sits at the core of Vinted's AI strategy, which shifts engineers toward architecture and planning while AI agents autonomously implement, test, deploy, and monitor. You will report to Artūras Vedrickas, and work closely with Platform capability owners, the Agentic Platform team, Product Engineers across all domains, and Security.
In this position, you’ll
- Lead a team of engineers building the development environments that hundreds of engineers and a fast-growing population of AI agents work in every single day
- Shape your team's vision, scope, and quarterly objectives with your stakeholders, and be accountable for turning initiatives into valuable, adopted outcomes
- Make the common tasks of starting any service with realistic data, running the full test loop before merging, giving an agent its own isolated environment and finding out what broke, take seconds
- Drive outcomes we can measure: how long it takes to get from a clean checkout to a running, debuggable service and whether tests pass the same way in the environment and in CI
- Own delivery for your team: spotting dependencies early, clearing obstacles and driving outcomes
- Grow your people through real 1:1s, realistic development plans, and feedback that's kind because it's honest
- Keep stakeholders across Engineering genuinely informed and aligned, translating between deep technical detail and business needs
- Contribute to the Domain's technical strategy
- Help shape Vinted's AI adoption roadmap - sandboxes for agents, the runtime for hosted coding agents, the checks that let agent-written changes merge without a human in the loop - and evolve your own team's ways of working
As an Engineering Manager here you'll stay close to the technical work. That work includes:
- Build isolated, secure sandboxes where multiple autonomous coding agents work the same repository concurrently without cross-contamination
- Create the CI/CD verification gates - linting, test suites, AI-assisted validation - that earn the trust needed to auto-merge an increasing share of agent-authored changes
- Make the environment and CI give the same result: shared caching, hermetic builds, and flaky tests measured
- Run the fleet of environments within a budget: track utilisation, reclaim idle machines, and know what an environment-hour costs
About you
- You've led a team that built or ran remote development environments, build infrastructure or CI for hundreds of engineers and you treat internal users as customers who have alternatives, including running everything on their own devices
- You've proven you can be accountable for delivery without doing it all yourself: planning, estimating, delegating, and shipping through your team
- You have hands-on fluency with modern AI-assisted development - coding agents, MCP integrations, agent skills and evals - and, just as important, formed opinions about where agents genuinely help
- You care deeply about developer experience, and you know the difference between reducing total work and merely moving it elsewhere
- You're good at growing people: coaching, mentoring, giving feedback that lands, and addressing underperformance with clarity and care rather than avoidance
- You understand the tradeoffs in provisioning environments - warm pools, snapshots, layered caching, microVMs versus containers - well enough to question your engineers' designs
- You have shut down a tool your own team built because the usage numbers said you should
- Advantage: you have owned or worked closely on a build system migration (Bazel, Buck, Pants) or monorepo tooling at scale
- Advantage: experience running agentic or LLM-powered workloads in production - sandboxing, guardrails, evaluations, or observability for agents
