Decision Scientist, Group Applied Data, Group Applied Data
Brief info about Vinted
Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:
Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.
Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.
Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.
Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people. Our backers include Accel, EQT Growth, Insight Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sprints, and TPG.
Information about the position
At Vinted, Data Science & Analytics (DSA) is a core pillar in how we grow our platform and make high-stakes decisions. We are looking for a mid-level Decision Scientist to join our Group Applied DSA team, specifically embedded within the Corporate Affairs domain.
As Corporate Affairs develops a new organic social media strategy, you will define the framework for how we measure its success. Your work centers on organic social media—measuring how our natural presence, community engagement, and brand storytelling impact Vinted’s reputation and strategic goals (unlike paid social, which focuses on performance marketing and acquisition). You will develop business-relevant KPIs, establish consistent tracking, and apply those insights to drive strategic decisions in the team.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical operations and tangible business impact, bringing both data-savvy and non-technical stakeholders together. You will join a talented team of Decision Scientists responsible for the wider domain, including Sustainability, External Communications, and Public Affairs. While you will be expected to own and deliver projects independently, you will benefit from the full support of the Group Applied DSA team and the wider DSA guild.
In this position, you’ll
- Quantify organic social media: Establish the first set of measurable KPIs that link day-to-day social media operations to actual business impact and ROI
- Always remain challenged: Design experiments and models to validate your framework, and quantify the impact of social media efforts, ultimately helping the team steer toward the most meaningful and high-return projects.
- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Use data to identify emerging social trends in time, enabling the team to act on opportunities effectively.
- Represent the data-driven approach: Act as a data ambassador for a non-data team; you will communicate frequently with stakeholders to educate them on how to interpret data and use it to inform their strategy.
- Build the Foundation: Develop and maintain the data models and pipelines necessary for this reporting.
- Be a team player: Occasionally assist the broader Corporate Affairs team with ad-hoc requests, data consultations, and deep-dive analyses across the domain.
About you
- You have professional experience in a Decision Science or Data Analytics role, demonstrating the ability to translate data into actionable outcomes.
- You have a strong mathematical background through a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, econometrics, physics, or similar).
- You are comfortable using SQL to extract and manipulate data. If your experience is primarily in Python/Pandas, you are willing to learn fast how to translate this into a high-performance SQL environment.
- You are a strong analytical thinker and have a natural curiosity to understand the "why". You can translate data trends into actionable insights.
- You are excited by the challenge of building an organic social media data strategy from scratch together with your manager.
- You have a foundational understanding of statistical principles and of how A/B testing or causal inference works.
- You have a passion for making data understandable to others. You are eager to develop your ability to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Advantage: You have an interest in the (organic) social media landscape and understand the nuances of engagement, reach, and sentiment.
- Advantage: Experience with dashboarding tools like Looker or Tableau.
- Advantage: Experience with basic data modeling concepts.
- Advantage: Experience with at least one statistical programming language (Python or R).
- Advantage: Experience with time-series analysis or identifying emerging trends in large datasets.
