Information about the position
Engineering at Vinted is divided into Infrastructure and Product. This position is for Product Engineering, where teams develop new features from start to finish and roll them out to all our members or internal users. We work in an EPDA (engineering, product, design, and analytics) structure, and engineering in the teams is represented by engineering managers who will report to you.
We’re looking for the Director of Engineering who would contribute to the Vinted vision of making second-hand the first choice by leading the Order domain.
In this role, you would tackle the versatile challenges ahead, namely:
- Product challenges: We collaborate with multiple stakeholders to manage the complex process that occurs after purchase, from delivery to payment completion, addressing diverse member needs and numerous different scenarios. Our goal is to ensure each order becomes a successful transaction for both buyers and sellers. We achieve this through continuous flow improvements, issue prevention, and efficient self-resolution tools. The Order domain is central to Vinted's growth initiatives, supporting expansions into new countries, categories, and new services.
- Technical challenges: Extracting owned context from a monolithic architecture into services, while ensuring uninterrupted product development. This involves expertly managing complex dependencies and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to maintain alignment. The majority of our code is transitioning from Ruby to Golang to utilize its advantages in performance and scalability. As these services are built and extracted, our three frontend platforms need to adapt seamlessly to support these backend transformations, ensuring a smooth and consistent user experience.
- Organizational challenges: The domain includes five teams—four cross-functional and one platform—at different maturity levels. While recent reorganization increased total domain capacity, it also introduced short-term complexity: some leaders are in double roles, covering for missing people, which is not sustainable. A newly added team is integrating, while another works outside the core Order context, impacting alignment. The platform team has a unique setup with Engineering and Technical Program Managers. We seek a Director of Engineering to improve collaboration, workflows, and delivery management in this evolving setup.

- Edvinas Raguckas: “I thrive in the stretch zone - where complexity is high, stakes are real, and the impact reaches across teams and markets. It’s not easy work, but it’s the kind that drives lasting change.”
- Gediminas Kalaušis: “recognizing that by guiding the team to success, I can positively impact millions of people across Europe.
