Vinted Engineering Academy: everything you need to know

We’ve designed a range of paid entry-level programmes to support both new graduates and career changers at the start of their professional journeys at Vinted. These programmes are divided into two categories: Academies and Internships.

The Engineering Academy is specifically crafted to accelerate tech careers, immersing participants in exciting, cutting-edge work at the forefront of innovation. You’ll collaborate with our brilliant teams to work on impactful products and sharpen your skills. Let’s dive into this intensive and rewarding career launchpad at our fast-paced, tech-driven scale-up.

 

The Academy in a nutshell

The Engineering Academy is a 6-month programme tailored to support people at the start of their tech careers at Vinted.

During that time, here’s what to expect:

  • 2 months of technical induction: collaborate with other Academy students in product teams, refine your skills & knowledge with a mentor & in technical workshops.
  • 4 months in a real Vinted engineering team: experience day-to-day life of a Vinted engineer.
  • Ongoing learning sessions: join learning sessions and build your personal skills.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have a solid foundation of knowledge and experience to hit the ground running. Even if the programme runs for 6 months, there will be an opportunity for everyone to join Vinted permanently after completing the Academy and continue growing your career with the skills you’ve gained.

Each year’s Academy tracks may vary based on Vinted’s needs. Past participants have joined areas like Backend, Android, iOS, Web and Quality Assurance - and who knows what we’ll explore next!
 

 

A hands-on technical induction

The first two months of the Academy include a technical induction led by our engineers. This phase is a mix of hands-on training sessions and collaborative workshops. 

You’ll be assigned to a team with other Academy students to simulate a product team, and work closely with others on a project specifically created for the Academy, reflecting our value of co-creation. 

To ensure you’re on track and happy with your progress, you’ll have regular 1:1 check-ins with your assigned mentor & as well as join workshops that cover a wide range of general engineering topics, e.g. best practices with Git and how Kubernetes works at Vinted and track-specific training that dives into your area, e.g. developing for iOS or Backend systems.
 

 

Career development support

Beyond technical skills, you’ll also develop interpersonal and professional skills through workshops on topics like:

  • Managing yourself
  • Becoming a more agile learner
  • Decision making and dealing with complexity
  • Driving your career
  • Influencing others
     

 

A unique entry-level programme

At Vinted, we don’t just work - we collaborate, co-create, and nurture each other’s growth. This mindset extends to our entry-level programmes. Academy participants are supported by mentors and peers, working on group projects in a collaborative, inclusive environment where every idea is heard and valued. We think that it’s this attitude that makes us thrive together.

 

Who should apply

The Engineering Academy is open to anyone with a solid foundation in coding or relevant technical skills. While we won’t teach the basics, we welcome diverse backgrounds - whether you’re self-taught, a recent graduate, or requalifying for a new career.

If you’re passionate about engineering and ready to grow, this is the programme for you!

For university students, we offer flexibility to accommodate your schedule (a minimum of 32 hours per week is required). The Academy is also open to people at any life stage who are changing careers. What matters most to us is your coding skills and passion for engineering.
 

 

The selection process

Our recruitment process has several stages:

  1. Application: submit your CV, GitHub link, portfolio, or projects showcasing your technical skills.
  2. Technical take-home task: show your skills and analytical thinking with an independent task.
  3. Two interviews: one focused on take-home task, your overall technical skills and problem-solving, and the other on interpersonal skills, communication, and how your values align with Vinted.
