As a Decision Scientist in the Search Relevance team within the Buyer domain, you will partner with Data Scientists, Engineers, and a Product Manager to improve how members search our catalog and maximize buyer conversion.

The Buyer domain is organized across three layers of product teams: the Experience layer (Discovery & Rediscovery, Search & Refinement), the Content layer (Search Relevance, Recommender Relevance, Content Visibility Management), and the Platform layer (Search Platform, Content Visibility Platform). Together, these teams ensure members find relevant items effortlessly across millions of unique second-hand listings.

Within Search Relevance, our scope spans the entire search journey: from semantic and keyword retrieval (including Dense Retrieval vector search) to multi-stage ML ranking (pre-ranking, deep reranking, and personalization). In this role, you will collaborate with your Product Manager, a senior Decision Scientist, and the engineering team to lead analytical discovery, identify search friction and opportunity areas, define success metrics, and design and evaluate A/B experiments measuring the business and member impact of our ranking and retrieval algorithms.

You will also be part of the Buyer Decision Science community, collaborating quarterly on technical standards, domain-wide analyses, and experimentation capabilities. Additionally, you will participate in Vinted’s company-wide Data Science & Analytics (DSA) guild, which regularly hosts knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and off-sites.

• Collaborate closely with your Product Manager, Data Scientists, and Engineers to uncover search improvement opportunities, size their potential, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• Formulate testable hypotheses, establish tracking requirements, and analyze online experiments to measure the causal impact of new retrieval and ranking algorithms on buyer conversion and engagement.
• Define and monitor metrics and experiment guardrails for Search Relevance, proactively investigating anomalies and diagnosing root causes behind their movements.
• Build and maintain reliable, intuitive dashboards (e.g. in Looker) that enable your team and cross-functional stakeholders to track search health and feature performance independently.
• Ensure team initiatives have clear success criteria and decision rules before launch. 

• Highly oriented toward business results and actionable recommendations.
• Good communicator who can present results in an informative and persuasive manner to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience as a Decision Scientist, Data Analyst or Data Scientist.
• Experience with A/B testing and product development.
• Knowledge of at least one statistical programming language (Python, R, Scala, etc.)
• Proficient in SQL and dashboarding tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.)
• You are passionate about applying data analytics and excited to use intelligent tools and techniques to uncover insights, improve decision-making and solve real-world business problems.
• University degree in statistics, econometrics, economics, business, or a related field.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Advantage: Experience with search, ranking or retrieval-based algorithms.
