Information about the position
At Vinted, our backend engineers are integral members of cross-functional product teams, which include Mobile, Web Backend engineers, QA, a product manager, a designer, and a decision scientist. As a backend engineer, you will be responsible for implementing robust business logic, developing APIs for our mobile and web platforms, and scaling our backend systems to accommodate our growing platform needs.
The Order domain guides members from the moment a buyer successfully pays in checkout until the transaction is complete. You'll work to ensure a smooth process, deliver transparency throughout the purchasing journey, and resolve issues efficiently.
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to strengthen one amazing team with a mission “to help our users not lose their assets for reasons they don't control so that they would continue to use our platform without fear.” We aim to solve unhappy flow issues and make users feel happy. You will help evolve our product to meet future challenges by writing clean and elegant code, working on large-scale projects. In this position, you’ll
- Work on extracting existing functionality from the monolith into standalone services using the Go language and Ruby. Experience with Go is preferred, but not strictly required
- Contribute to continuously tested and deployed applications by adding more tests, new features, and breaking down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components
- Monitor your deployed code through tools like Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog
- Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work and collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
- See your code affect 85 million users almost instantly, as our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge
- Own SLIs/SLOs in the product team to ensure quality and reliability
- Be ready to partner across teams to prioritize and deliver results
- Provide direct and impactful feedback in team functions and seek feedback from team members to grow
About you
- You are willing to learn and excel at new technologies and concepts
- You love to improve things, and if you see something that needs improvement, you actively bring it to the table
- You are familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Systems Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture
- You have some knowledge about enterprise architecture patterns, (micro)services, and their pros/cons
- You enjoy collaboration and being part of the team
- You can engage in constructive and healthy conflict, expressing your views openly, while maintaining respect and professionalism towards colleagues

The salary range for this position is € 3,558 - € 4,808 gross per month.
