Information about the position

As Vinted’s new Backend Engineer, you’ll be joining the Backend Technologies team (Marketplace Technologies domain). The purpose of our team is to reduce the cognitive load of other Marketplace teams by standardizing common backend functionality and tools. The team consists exclusively of experienced backend engineers, ensuring you always have someone to discuss your ideas with.

Here are some of the technologies we use: Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Golang, MySQL, Vitess, Redis, Kafka, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Elastic APM, Datadog, Backstage, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Istio, ArgoCD.

In this position, you’ll

  • Develop platform capabilities that help all Marketplace engineers build scalable systems.
  • Collaborate with the Product Engineering and Infrastructure Engineering teams to evolve our applications and infrastructure.
  • Shape the architecture of our service ecosystem.
  • Consult other engineers on how to build robust systems with high availability.
  • Craft code that affects more than 80M+ users and handles 10M+ requests per minute.
  • Participate in on-call rotation every 5-6 weeks.

About you

  • At least 3 years of experience building large-scale applications.
  • A strong communicator, skilled in discussing complex topics and collaborating across cultures in spoken and written English.
  • Eager to learn and master new technologies and concepts.
  • Familiar with most and have deep knowledge in some of the following disciplines (depending on your seniority level): Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Structures and Algorithms.
  • You are motivated by challenging, complex engineering problems that require deep technological understanding, collaboration with developers, and solutions beyond regular product development.
  • Advantage: experience with Distributed Systems, event-driven architecture, performance optimization and monitoring.
