Information about the position 

The Safety Intelligence team plays a crucial role in safeguarding the platform by swiftly and adeptly addressing complex scam cases across the company. Equipped with strong technical skills, the team handles large volumes of user, item, and transaction data to detect and analyse anomalies and malicious patterns. By conducting both qualitative and quantitative analyses, the team uncovers insightful trends to perform high confidence sanctioning at scale, and provides recommendations on how to mitigate scams at their root cause.

In this position, you’ll 

  • Independently perform SQL data analysis to identify malicious activities and initiate mitigation. Be able to explain the rationale for restriction and the trade-off between risk and confidence. 
  • Using SQL and other analysis tools, perform complex and high volume samples checks to ensure accuracy of internally developed detection tools, mitigation accuracy, when needed create instructions for this process handover to other stakeholders
  • Proactively monitor KPIs to spot emerging anomalies or malicious patterns. Explain major trends and provide qualitative examples
  • Independently develop informative Looker dashboards for monitoring and reporting of anomalies and malicious patterns.  Provide concise and informative summaries of key trends and its impact
  • Proactively create insightful reports clearly depicting complex malicious patterns (attacker, vector, and victim) and proposing domain-wide or company-wide recommendations for resolution
  • Collaborate with Product teams to ensure that identified malicious patterns are sufficiently addressed or product vulnerabilities are fixed 
  • Drive KPI setting process and proactively proposes new metrics and targets

About you 

  • At least 2 years of experience in investigating malicious activity patterns (e.g.: scam, phishing, account take-over, offensive content, financial crimes, AML, etc.) and handling complex cases
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis, performing complex data manipulation, queries, and creating insightful reports
  • Strong analytical skills to provide insights and recommendations based on data (working with BI tools or Excel)
  • Proactive approach towards monitoring and analysing trends, identifying risks and opportunities, as well as providing solutions and improvements based on gathered insights for Product teams, operational procedures, policies
  • Ability to perform threat intelligence investigations
  • Excellent at communicating in English (both written and verbal)
