Information about the position

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Transactional Experience (TX) domain within Vinted Product Engineering. Our domain’s mission is to set the right promise so members initiate the transactions and meet that promise by enabling them to succeed in buying and selling. From an engineering perspective, we aim to do so by maintaining strong data consistency guarantees, ensuring resilient payment & shipping orchestration and maintaining best-in-class performance. In a nutshell, we want to ensure that every transaction that can succeed, succeeds.

In this position, you’ll

Be accountable for:

  • Results of a team (delivery management and quality of engineering)
  • Processes and procedures in a team (working in the right ways on the right things)
  • People in the team (ensuring that we have great people working in true harmony)

In practice, it means:

  • Work in a cross-functional team (±7 engineers that you would be leading, product manager, designer and data scientist) to shape features that make our members’ lives better
  • Ensure the team’s delivery according to the quarterly roadmap
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineering Managers to bring continuous improvements to your team and our domain
  • Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work and ensure the team has a set of processes that enables them to be effective
  • Focus on the professional and personal growth of your team and yourself, including conducting performance and compensation reviews
  • Work on team’s maturity: a team of people who trust each other, are not afraid of conflict, are committed and accountable, who care about results, and do a bunch of other great things

Your future fellow engineering managers in TX are defining what they do as follows:

  • “Taking care of product team “machine” and making sure it goes smoothly: making sure it’s well maintained, deciding when we need new parts or upgrades, paving the road, removing obstacles on the way, etc.” - Marius
  • “Inspiring people to become better versions of themselves, sometimes letting them fall and helping them get up or finding a way to get up themselves” - Gediminas
  • “Being part of exceptional colleagues and peers where we grow, make mistakes and learn from each other together” - Jurgita

About you

  • Like getting things done and done well
  • Have experience leading a software engineering team and delivering outcomes that you are proud of
  • Know how to improve team efficiency
  • Like working with people and helping them
  • Know a thing or two about stakeholder management
  • “Embracing uncertainty” is a phrase that does not scare you
  • You are not afraid to articulate the following terms: service-oriented architecture, monolithic vs modular architecture, tight vs loose coupling, technical debt, etc. You don’t have to know them in-depth, but a basic understanding will help you perform better by a mile
