Information about the position 

As our new Decision Scientist, you will become a part of the Buyer domain - a cross-functional product department with a mission to improve our user experience in various areas of funnel (e.g. catalogue, search, homepage, item page, listing upload form and etc.) and create the most efficient search and recommendation systems for the buyers by leveraging the content of our connected international markets.

Together with other colleagues you will drive and contribute to data initiatives and hypotheses testing within the specific product subdomain. You will help to identify the biggest opportunity areas for improving our buyer navigation and search experience and ways to measure the success of our new and existing channels, and also contribute to the experimentation processes within the subdomain. You will work closely with a Product Manager, Engineering Manager, Data/Decision Scientists and Front-end/Back-end Engineers in the subdomain team. You will help the team build the roadmap of product and data initiatives and present the data insights and results of analyses/ experiments to the wider audience. We’re looking for someone who likes to work in a fast-changing environment, is willing to pick up new contexts, and is passionate about the product we’re building together.

Next to the product subdomain team, you will be part of the cross-domain Data Science & Analytics (DSA) guild where you will interact and learn from all data people in Vinted. Within DSA we have three distinct roles. We believe that each role can make a similarly sized business impact in different ways and therefore our salary ranges are the same for all three roles. To understand your role within the DSA context better, here are brief descriptions of each role we have in the department:

  • Analytics Engineers are responsible for data curation – translating data needs from stakeholders into architecting, building and maintaining efficient & reliable data models and pipelines.
  • Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making.
  • Data Scientists are responsible for identification of algorithmic opportunities, ensuring those opportunities are addressed in an optimal fashion and design, development and maintenance of production-grade statistical and machine learning algorithms.

 

In this position, you’ll 

  • Collaborate with your subdomain’s team and stakeholders to identify discovery opportunities and evaluate improvements.
  • Answer data/product questions optimally through deep-dives, experiments, data modelling, dashboards, or recurring analysis.
  • Analyze opportunities to understand their scope and impact.
  • Familiarize yourself with Buyer domain’s data and contribute to product subdomain KPIs, tracking, and issue flagging.
  • Understand user behavior in specific buyer channels through deep-dive analyses and collaboration with the user research team.
  • Enable your team and stakeholders to leverage data for business insights using self-service and dashboarding tools (Looker).
  • Define requirements for A/B testing and analyze test results.
  • Create a backlog with prioritized hypotheses and analyses.

About you 

  • Demonstrable experience as a Decision Scientist, Data Analyst, or Product Analyst.
  • BSc or MSc in a related field or equivalent working experience.
  • Proficient in statistical methods (e.g., A/B testing, regression analysis).
  • Programming experience, preferably in Python.
  • Skilled in SQL and dashboarding tools like Looker.
  • Highly business-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes.
  • Excellent communicator, able to present complex topics clearly.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to balance analysis depth with business impact.

Vinted will set aside a yearly sum equal to 10-13.2% of your annual salary to be invested in your continuous professional development. You’ll be able to take the initiative to use it for covering relevant learning activities that benefit your role.

Hybrid Work 

We’ve adopted a hybrid workplace model where 2 days in office are recommended but not enforced. It’s up to you and your team to decide on the exact days you’ll spend working together in person.
