Information about the position 

We’re seeking a Technical Product Manager with a strong technical background to join the Buyer domain. We are the central hub for finding and listing products and providing insights for optimisation. The domain connects buyers with products, optimizes the shopping experience, and promotes successful transactions through a user-friendly platform with advanced search features and personalized recommendations. You will oversee two Platform teams: Ontologies Platform and Search Platform. The Ontologies Platform offers vital technology for defining and managing canonical categories and attributes, with tools that implement hierarchical structures, relationships, and attributes for content. Our Search Platform provides the search-focused building blocks that product teams use to quickly deliver business-facing value. You will ensure the teams build cutting-edge systems at scale that power the buying experience for millions of customers across Europe. You will collaborate with Engineering Managers, other Product Managers, and the Director of Product to solve complex user and business problems. 

We’re seeking someone with a proven track record for delivering impact through technical product solutions. You should be ready to take on challenges and willing to grow in your role.

In this position, you’ll 

  • Create and set objectives
  • Work with engineers, researchers, and other product teams to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve the customer experience
  • Drive and align the vision and product strategy for two platform teams: Search Platform and Ontologies Platform
  • Manage the backlog of these teams to continuously execute the strategy and achieve agreed objectives
  • Evaluate technology considerations and make decisions on trade-offs
  • Assess and address technical risks
  • Understand and analyze data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
  • Plan and oversee the product development cycle, accountable for delivering high-quality products. Collaborate with peers in engineering to manage product backlog and sprint planning
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape. Use insights to inform product strategy and feature development.
  • Serve as the key liaison between the technical team and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of product capabilities, limitations, and progress

About you 

  • Understand and appreciate the engineering and technical aspects of the product development lifecycle and know how to balance product development and tech debt
  • 3+ years of product management experience, building technical products
  • Significant experience in a technical field such as software development, data science or engineering
  • Experience delivering through a full product lifecycle: integrating user feedback into product requirements, driving prioritization, and pre/post-launch execution
  • Able to make insightful, data-driven decisions and translate these into valuable product improvements 
  • Good knowledge of how to incorporate data, research, and market analysis to create product strategies and roadmaps
  • Skilled in operating effectively in varying degrees of abstraction and translating complex concepts into actionable iterations
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are confident juggling changing priorities and operating with limited resources
  • You are passionate about driving technical innovation to make second-hand first-choice 
  • Domain knowledge about Search and Data structure management systems is a plus
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is a plus
  • A fast learner and critical thinker with an open attitude
