Information about the position 

You will be responsible for working together with other engineers, data scientists, designers and a product manager to achieve the goals set for your team. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the digital tools used in the Vinted Hamburg and UK verification hubs. These tools include a fulfilment web application which is used by logistics staff as well as brand experts - whose job it is to admit and verify the authenticity of high-value fashion items. 

As a backend engineer you will be responsible for building and testing the APIs used by this web application. You will also work to maintain the interfaces that connect our backend server to the rest of Vinted’s shipping and marketplace services. Our backend also controls a conveyor belt system, which in turn scans and routes packages throughout the building.

In this position, you’ll 

  • Work with Ruby on Rails, Python, MySQL, Redis and many more technologies. We don't expect you to be familiar with all of them beforehand.
  • Work in a team and shape the features that make Vinted Go logistics the most efficient, green, and reliable experience for our members.
  • Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work.
  • Pair with other developers on solution implementation and collaborate through GitHub pull requests and code reviews.
  • Working with product and design to analyse requirements and decide on technical solutions.
  • Ensure that we have adequate testing mechanisms in place on all levels of the application and process.
  • Craft the code that will route incoming packages automatically throughout the verification hub.
  • Deploy to Kubernetes clusters using ArgoCD.
  • Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, DataDog, Prometheus, and the new tools you will introduce.

About you 

  • You have experience working with an object-oriented language like Ruby, Python, Java or others.
  • You are willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts.
  • You are passionate about writing clean, well-tested code.
  • We expect you to be familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Web Development, Distributed Systems, and Systems Architecture.
