Information about the position
Working in Growth domain, we contribute to our mission of growing our marketplace and expanding our members and items base. Product features aim to improve our member's onboarding and listing experience, as well keep our existing members engaged. As well we support our marketing organization with the required tooling. Moreover, we are a very centric domain at Vinted, coordinating and running expansion projects.
In Growth, a few cross-functional teams typically consist of 2 to 4 backend engineers, iOS, Android, Web, QA engineers, Decision Scientist, a Designer, and a Product Manager. Backend software engineers are the ones who implement business logic and write APIs that our mobile and web platforms can use. As a backend software engineer, you would work with product and business-related features, as well solving different technical challenges would be an inseparable part of your daily job.
We are looking for a Lead Backend Software Engineer who’s skilled at writing elegant code and likes to work on big-scale projects.

In this position, you’ll
- Work in a team and shape the features to make our members’ life better
- Lead domain and cross-domain level initiatives spanning multiple teams within the organisation
- Work alongside the domain’s Staff Engineer on our architectural evolution
- Transform large monoliths into smaller, component-based services
- Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work
- Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
- Write unit tests (RSpec) for all of the code you write. We have >10000 tests which run in ~5 minutes through our Jenkins setup
- See your code affect 80+ million users almost instantly. Our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge. We deploy many times per day
- Work with Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Memcached, Elasticsearch and many more technologies. We don't expect you to be familiar with any of them beforehand
- Craft the code which can handle more than 2M requests per minute. Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, DataDog and new tools that you will introduce :)

Hybrid Work
