Information about the position
As a Data Scientist, you’ll become part of Trust’s Detection team, with a mission to protect the Vinted community from harmful activities and content. The Detection team in the Trust & Safety domain is engaged in detecting, understanding, and stopping dangerous or inappropriate content and behaviour in the Vinted Marketplace.
You will leverage your expertise in machine learning to research, design, implement, and maintain our detection models. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our models are not only accurate but also efficient and scalable. This involves working closely with our engineering teams to develop robust pipelines for data handling, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and continuous improvement.
As a senior level Data Scientist, you will utilise advanced machine learning techniques to analyse text, images, and other data formats, tackling complex challenges to identify and address content that poses potential risks. You will champion best practices and methodologies, significantly enhancing the team's effectiveness and safeguarding Vinted. You will mentor others, influence the strategic direction for model development, and facilitate cross-functional collaborations to drive impactful results.
In this position, you’ll
- Drive the research, design, and maintenance of advanced machine learning models focused on detecting harmful content and behavior within the Vinted Marketplace, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Play a crucial role in establishing and refining essential machine learning processes, such as data versioning, creating labeling pipelines, and ensuring high-quality data availability for effective model training.
- Actively collaborate across teams, particularly with Data Infrastructure and backend engineers, to develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of deployed models.
- Influence and contribute to the strategic roadmap for the Detection team, collaborating with Decision Scientists to test, assess, and continuously improve new models.
- Mentor data scientists within the team, fostering their development and encouraging a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
About you
- Proven track record in data science, with a strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, or computational mathematics.
- Demonstrated experience deploying ML models into production, maintaining them, and addressing real-world performance and scaling issues.
- Strong Python skills and knowledge of latest technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ML infrastructure in cloud platforms (e.g., Vertex AI, Databricks, or Sagemaker)
- Proven capability to work with engineering teams, designing and implementing efficient data ingestion, feature engineering, and model training pipelines
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to staying at the forefront of developments in machine learning and data science
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The base salary range for this position is €61,800 - €83,600 gross per year.
