Vinted Data Science & Analytics Academy: our new entry-level programme
This year, we’re adding a new programme to our list of paid entry-level programmes at Vinted, created to support new graduates and career changers at the beginning of their field: the Data Science & Analytics Academy.
The Data Science & Analytics (DSA) academy is designed to support budding Data scientists, Decision scientists, and Analytics engineers as they begin their upward career trajectory at Vinted. Where participants can develop their existing data science knowledge and skills, and apply them to real, impactful team projects. Read on for more information about the academy, who we’re looking for, and how to apply.
Let’s take you through the basics
The DSA Academy is a paid one-year programme, starting in October 2024 in Vilnius or Kaunas. In the first 12 months you will be part of a rotation programme. The programme is split into two parts, lasting six months each, which are designed to help you broaden your data skills, engage with various teams, and explore different ways of working at Vinted.
We have three distinct roles within Data Science & Analytics:
Data scientists weave data into our products and services, driving everything from personalisation to marketing mix models.
Decision scientists translate complex business questions and are behind every test feature, product metric, or decision we make.
Analytics engineers take charge of our data – treating it as a product and ensuring its quality and trustworthiness.
You’ll choose which role you’ll be working in for your first rotation in advance, depending on your preferences. For the second rotation, you’ll change roles and domain/business area – giving you the chance to work with different teams on different things.
Your career growth, with our support
Start making an impact right away. After a week of technical and company onboarding, you’ll be ready to dive in and start deepening your skills on the job, by joining some more senior colleagues on team projects. What’s more, while in the academy, you’ll have the full support of a mentor and will take part in workshops to enhance your knowledge not only in data science and analytics, but also in your own career building skills (such as goal setting, communication and problem-solving).
The Academy is only just the beginning of your career at Vinted. By the end of the year, you’ll be equipped with all the skills and knowledge needed for a successful start here at Lithuania’s first tech unicorn.
Who should apply
The ideal candidate doesn’t exist. But we do need DSA academy applicants to already possess certain qualities. We’re looking for people who are mathematically-driven, with a degree in a quantitative field such as physics, econometrics, economics, or business. Some experience or background knowledge in Python would be necessary. As already mentioned, you’ll be able to tell us your preferred role in DSA when you apply, but you should also have an interest in learning about and working in other roles and business areas.
The DSA Academy is open to everyone with the necessary education or skills, regardless of where or how you developed them, or what life stage you’re at. We’re a diverse workplace – just like the people we build our products for, and we believe it’s this mixture of different backgrounds and perspectives that makes us stronger.

The selection process
Does this sound good to you? Then you’ll need to know about the selection process, which consists of several stages. The Academy Programme is open for intake once a year (in Autumn), with hiring taking place in the summertime. When applications are open, there will be a job ad posted on our Careers page. Here’s where you can answer some general questions, and attach your CV and portfolio/examples of projects that showcase your skills and expertise.
Selected candidates will then be asked to carry out a scenario-based Vinted Value Assessment, which was developed by psychologists to determine if your values align with our way of working. Hiring managers will then review the CVs again, and select candidates to move on to the homework task – an assignment designed to demonstrate your skills and analytical thinking, which you can carry out in your own time.
The final part of the selection process is an hour-long interview where you can meet your future team. Half of it will be focussed on how you would fit with Vinted’s working culture, and the other half will be technical questions based on how you approached your homework task. You’ll be left with plenty of time to ask the team your questions as well.
